The cylinder head bolt torque instructions in the 2002 Rio Service Manual are incorrect. The instructions say to rotate the cylinder head bolts 90° a second time. This is incorrect.

The correct procedure is:
- Tighten the bolts to 36 lb-ft in the order shown.
- Loosen the bolts in reverse order, then re-tighten to 18 lb-ft.
- Rotate bolts 90° (1/4 turn) in the order shown.
Do not rotate bolts 90° a second time.

Please note this correct head bolt torque procedure in your 2002 Rio Service Manual. The head bolt torque procedure in the 2001 Rio Service Manual is correct.
