On-Vehicle Service
Wheel bearing play1. Raise vehicle and support it with safety stand.
2. Loosen and remove four wheel nuts.
3. Remove wheel and tire.
4. Loosen a locknut and two disk plate screws.
5. Remove brake caliper assembly and disk plate.
6. Install a dial indicator on wheel hub, and push and pull hub to measure bearing play.
Maximum wheel bearing play: 0.002 inch (0.05 mm)
7. Install brake caliper assembly and disk plate.
8. Tighten a locknut and two disk plate screws.
Tightening torque:
Locknut: 154 - 205 ft. lbs. (210 - 279 Nm, 21.4 - 28.5 kg.m)
Rotor screw: 7 - 11 ft. lbs. (9.8 - 15 Nm, 1.0 - 1.5 kg.m)
9. Install wheel and tire.
10. Tighten four nuts.
Tightening torque: 65 - 87 ft. lbs. (88 - 118 Nm, 9.0 - 12.0 kg.m)
11. Lower vehicle.
Driveshaft
1. Raise vehicle and support it with safety stands.
2. Check dust boots on driveshaft for cracks, damage, leaking grease or loose boot bands.
3. Check driveshaft for a bent condition, cracks and wear of joints or splines.
4. Repair or replace driveshaft if necessary.
5. Lower vehicle.
