Throttle Body: Service and Repair

Removal
Prior to removing throttle body, check that ignition switch is in OFF position.

1. Drain engine coolant.
2. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector.
3. Loosen clamp and disconnect air intake hose from throttle body.
4. Disconnect IAC valve connector.
5. Remove accelerator cable bracket bolts.
6. Disconnect accelerator cable and move aside.
7. Disconnect two coolant hoses from throttle body.
8. Remove three bolts and remove throttle body from intake manifold.
9. Remove throttle body gasket.
10. Clean mating surfaces of throttle body and dynamic chamber.

Installation
1. Replace throttle body gasket.
2. Connect coolant lines to throttle body.
3. Install throttle body onto dynamic chamber and tighten three bolts.

Tightening torque: 18 lb-ft (25 N.m, 2.6 kg-cm)




4. Reconnect throttle position sensor and IAC valve connectors.
5. Install intake air hose and tighten clamps.
6. Connect accelerator cable.
7. Reinstall accelerator cable bracket and tighten bolt.
8. Verify that throttle valve is fully closed and measure accelerator cable free play.

Free play: 0.040 - 0.120 in (1.0 - 3.0 mm)

9. Refill radiator and check coolant level.
