Engine Controls - TPS Codes and Driveability Issues
SOURCE: Kia PitStop
TITLE: TPS Related Codes And Driveability Issues
APPLIES TO: 01 Sephia
01 Spectra
SERVICE TIP:
When diagnosing TPS concerns on 2001 Sephia and Spectra make sure to check the wiring to the TPS.
Due to variation in the amount of slack between the TPS connector and the bulkhead, it is possible that with engine movement over time, tension on the harness could cause loose terminals or broken wires. The most common problem would be TPS circuit or misfire codes, but engine movement could also cause intermittent engine hesitation or automatic trans-shifting concerns. After repairing the harness or terminal, pull the harness retainer from the stud on the bulkhead to provide more slack in the wiring.
