Rear Ground Effect Skirt

* NOTICE
The ground effect skirt is designed to follow the contour of the rear bumper fascia. In order to achieve this and create a flush mounting surface, it may be necessary to make some minor fit and finish adjustments, as follows:

^ Using a plastic mallet, carefully tap up any unevenness in pinch weld at the bottom of the rear quarter panel.

^ Flatten any protrusions on the rear fender well sheet metal lip directly under the plastic wheel well liner.

^ Using upward and forward pressure, slightly bend the comer brackets at the outermost plastic fastener locations. (Figure 1)

1. Ensure the correct positioning of the rear ground effect skirt. The end mounting tabs should seat comfortably against the rear corners of the wheel wells and the pre-drilled holes should align with the factory holes in the rear bumper fascia. (Figure 2) Mark a line along the top edge of the rear ground effect skirt using a dry-erase marker.

2. Carefully apply a one-inch band of 3M-adhesion promoter 4296T approximately 1/8" below the line marked in Step 1.

3. Ensuring that the exhaust port is properly located above the exhaust pipe, insert a large plastic fastener into each of the holes located in the bottom of the ground effect skirt. These holes will correspond with the factory holes located in the rear bumper fascia.

4. Being careful not to touch the adhesive, expose approximately 12" of tape in each corner by creating two "pull tabs" that will be accessible when the ground effect skirt is placed in position.

* NOTICE
Do not allow the exposed tape to come into contact with the vehicle at this time.

5. Ensure the proper positioning of the ground effect skirt by firmly pressing the end mounting tabs into position against the rear comers of the rear wheel wells. (Figure 3) When you are satisfied with the position of ground effect skirt, firmly press the 12" exposed tape section against the vehicle body.

* NOTICE
Use firm multi-directional pressure in the corners to ensure maximum contact between the ground effect tape and the vehicle body.

**** Steps 6 and 7 NOT AVAILABLE ****

8. While holding the ends of the ground effect skirt in position, pull the tape liner tab to expose the adhesive surface at each rear quarter panel. Firmly press these exposed tape sections against the vehicle body.

9. Pull the tape liner tab to expose the center section of the adhesive surface, and place it firmly against the rear fascia in the position marked in Step 1. Be sure that the ground effect skirt follows the contour of the rear bumper fascia.

* NOTICE
Aggressive adhesion is critical! The adhesive is pressure sensitive and must be firmly installed along the entire length of the ground effect skirt!

10. Using the dimple in each end mounting tab as a drill guide, drill a 1/4" hole through each end mounting tab and plastic wheel well liner. (Figure 4)

11. Insert a small plastic fastener into each end tab. Press firmly with the flat end of a screwdriver handle to ensure full engagement of the plastic fasteners. When properly installed, the fastener head should fit flush against the mounting tab surface.

12. Drill a 1/8" hole in each comer. Manually install a truss head screw through the ground effect skirt and into the rear bumper fascia. (Figure 5)

13. Clean off dry-erase marker.
