Front Ground Effect Skirt

The ground effect skirt is designed to follow the contour of the front bumper fascia. In order to achieve this and create a flush mounting surface, it may be necessary to make some minor fit and finish adjustments.

1. Remove the defective ground effect skirt and clean off any residual tape from body.

2. Clean the mounting surface of the bumper fascia with an acetone or alcohol soaked clean cloth, followed by a clean dry soft cloth.

3. Ensure the correct positioning of the front ground effect skirt. The end mounting tabs should seat comfortably against the front corners of the wheel wells and the pre-drilled holes should align with the factory holes in bumper fascia. (Figure 9) Mark a line along the top edge of the front ground effect skirt using a dry-erase marker.

4. Carefully apply a one-inch band of 3M-adhesion promoter 4296T approximately 1/8" below the line marked in Step 3.

5. Insert a large plastic fastener into each of the pre-drilled holes in the ground effect skirt and the front bumper fascia. Press firmly to ensure the full engagement of the fasteners.

6. Being careful not to touch the adhesive, expose approximately 12" of tape in each corner by creating "pull tabs" on each end that will be accessible from the outside when the ground effect is in position. (Figure 10) Do not allow the exposed tape to come into contact with the vehicle at this time.

7. Ensure the correct positioning of the ground effect skirt by firmly pressing the end mounting tabs against the front comers of the front wheel wells. (Figure 11) When satisfied with the position of the ground effect skirt, firmly press the 12" exposed section of tape against the vehicle body.

* NOTICE
Use firm multi-directional pressure in the comers to ensure maximum contact between the ground effect tape and the vehicle body.

8. While holding the ends of the ground effect skirt firmly in position, pull the tape liner pull tab to expose the adhesive at each front fender panel. Firmly press these sections to the vehicle body.

9. Pull the tape liner pull tab out to expose the center section of the adhesive surface and place firmly against the front fascia in the position marked in Step 3.

* NOTICE
Aggressive adhesion is critical! The adhesive is pressure sensitive and must be firmly installed along the entire length of the ground effect skirt.

10. Using the dimples in the front mounting tab, drill two (2) 1/4" holes in the mounting tab. These holes should correspond to those drilled in the wheel well liner during the previous ground effect skirt installation. (Figure 12)

11. Insert two small plastic fasteners into each end tab. Press firmly with the flat surface of a screwdriver handle to ensure full engagement of the fasteners. When properly installed, the fastener head will fit flush against the mounting tab surface.

* NOTICE
Counter pressure may be necessary against the backside of the wheel well skirt in order to ensure proper fastener engagement.

12. Drill three (3) 1/8" holes through the ground effect skirt and into front fascia in three locations. One hole should be drilled at the center point, and one hole each at the corners. (Figure 13)

13. Install truss head screws in the three holes drilled in Step 12.

14. Clean off dry-eraser marker.

* NOTICE
Wait at least 24 hours before applying pressure to the ground effects or washing the vehicle to allow the foam tape to properly cure.
