LH/RH Ground Effect Skirt
1. Remove the defective ground effect skirt and clean off any residual tape from the body.2. Clean the mounting surface of the rocker panel with an acetone or alcohol soaked clean cloth, followed by a clean dry soft cloth.
3. Check fit the ground effect skirt. The rear edge should fit against the outside edge of the factory pinch weld.
4. Using a dry erase marker, draw a line along the top edge of the ground effect.
5. Carefully apply a one-inch band of 3M-adhesion promoter 4296T approximately 1/8" below the line marked in Step 4.
6. Pull approximately 10" of the red liner from the tape at each end of the ground effect, creating a "pull tab" which will be accessible from the outside when the ground effect skirt is placed in position. (Figure 6)
7. Locate the rear edge of the ground effect skirt against the pinch weld and firmly press the mounting tabs into position against the front and rear wheel wells. Ensure that end mounting tabs are seated comfortably against the wheel well surface and the rear edge is resting against the pinch weld, then firmly press the 10" exposed tape sections against the vehicle body.
* NOTICE
Make sure that the tape liner "pull tab" is accessible from the outside. (Figure 6)
8. While applying firm upward pressure to the ground effect skirt against the vehicle body, pull the tape liner pull tab to expose the tape surface.
* NOTICE
Aggressive adhesion is critical! The adhesive is pressure sensitive and must be firmly installed along the entire length of the ground effect skirt.
9. Check the existing pinch weld. There should be three (3) holes drilled in the pinch weld from the previous ground effect installation. Apply additional corrosion inhibitor to these holes as needed.
10. Using the existing three (3) pinch weld holes as a guide, carefully drill 1/8" holes into the ground effect skirt (drilling must be done from underneath the vehicle to access the inner edge of the pinch weld. (Figure 7)
* NOTICE
Press the ground effect skirt upward while drilling to ensure the correct hole position.
11. Using a hand-held # 2 Phillips screwdriver, attach the ground effect skirt to the pinch weld with the screws provided.
* NOTICE
Do not use a power screwdriver. Do not overtighten the screws. This will cause the adhesive to pull away from the vehicle body.
12. Using the dimples in the front mounting tab, drill two (2) 1/4" holes in the mounting tab. (Figure 8) These holes should correspond to those drilled in the wheel well skirt during the previous ground effect skirt installation.
13. Install two small plastic fasteners into each end tab. Press firmly with the flat even surface of a screwdriver handle to ensure full engagement of the plastic fasteners. When properly installed, the fastener heads should be flush against the mounting tab surface.
14. Clean off dry-erase marker.
