Instrument Panel - Low Fuel Warning Light
SOURCE: Kia Technician Times
TITLE: Low Fuel Indicator Light
APPLIES TO: Rio
SERVICE TIP:
The Rio has a low fuel indicator light that is designed to come on when the remaining fuel in the tank is less than 1.5 gallons. To avoid the light coming on during acceleration or braking, or when going up or down hills before the remaining fuel reaches this level, there is a delay in the circuit of about 1 minute to prevent a false low fuel indication.
Therefore, when diagnosing a fuel gauge sender for low fuel indicator light operation, make certain that you wait at least 1 minute with the float arm at the empty position to confirm proper operation.
