A/T - MIL ON/Transmisison Codes Set
SOURCE: Kia Technician Times
TITLE: P0740 Codes
APPLIES TO: Rio
SERVICE TIP:
Check engine lights with one or more DTCs of P0740, 734, 733, 732, and 1500, are generally being caused by two things:
1. Shift cable binding at manual shift lever at transmission. Cause of binding is overtightening damage to manual shift lever bushing sleeve during assembly. From 7/26/00 production, the manual shift lever was revised to accept a larger bushing sleeve to prevent damage during assembly. This new shift lever and bushing sleeve should be used to repair incident vehicles.
2. TCU logic is overly sensitive to torque converter lockup and transmission slippage. The factory is working on revised logic software to reduce incidence of these DTCs.
