GROUP:
Body

NUMBER:
016

MODEL:
Rio

DATE:
August 2000

SUBJECT:
Door Mirror Adjuster Boot

This bulletin provides information related to changes to the Rio door mirror adjuster boot.

The following changes are effective as of 7/4/00 production:

^ The overall boot length increased from 25 mm to 34 mm

^ Rubber material thickness increased

^ An interlocking rib was added

The purpose of changes to the mirror adjuster boot is to ensure positive retention of adjuster boot behind mirror garnish. Original design adjuster boots may pull loose from mirror and garnish resulting in poor appearance.

New design mirror adjuster boots should be used on all Rio vehicles with boots that have pulled loose.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove inside mirror garnish.

2. Remove existing mirror adjuster boot and discard.

3. Install the new adjuster boot onto the adjuster lever.

Note:
Make certain to install adjuster boot all the way onto lever as shown.

4. Reinstall inside mirror garnish.

NOTE:
Original adjuster boots may be secured with adhesive.

Before installing the new design adjuster boot, use care to remove all residual rubber and adhesive which may be stuck to the adjuster lever.

AFFECTED PRODUCTION RANGE:
2001 MY Rio models produced before 7/4/00.
