Optima Rear Drum Brake Noise
This bulletin provides information relating to a change in Optima rear drum brakes to reduce operational noise. From 11/1/01 production, stiffeners were added to the brake shoes and a dust ring was added to the backing plate. These changes reduce incidence of rear brake squeal/squeak noise. These new parts may be used as a field fix for in-use complaint vehicles built before 11/1/01.
* NOTICE
For in-use complaint vehicles, both the backing plates and brake shoes must be replaced to be effective.
