The fuel level sending unit for 2001 MY Optimas has recently been changed. The new sending unit is now similar to the 2002 MY version, which uses different resistance segment and wiper contact. If you encounter a vehicle with improper fuel level indication, replace the sending unit with the later model.

The part number (94460 38000) for the unit remains the same, but all current PDC stock is of the new type. (Do not use replacement parts from dealer stock unless they are the new style; return any old-style dealer stock)

Note: Although 2002MY fuel sending units (P/N 94460 38200) also use this later design, assemblies are not interchangeable due to mounting differences.
