Body - Fuel Filler Door Won't Pop Open Far Enough

TITLE: Fuel Filler Door

SERVICE TIP:

The fuel filler door on some 2003 Optima models produced before 11/21/02 may not pop open far enough when remote release is depressed. For vehicles with this complaint, use the following procedure to reduce binding at the filler door hinge.

1. Open fuel filler door, button is on lower drivers arm rest.

2. Remove two bolts and remove fuel filler door.






3. Use a razor knife or sharp scraper to remove flashing at the three points in photo. Make sure hinge moves freely.






4. Reinstall fuel filler door on vehicle.hicle.
