Removal
1. Lift front of vehicle and support it with safety stands.
2. Remove wheel and tire.
3. Remove plastic undercover.
4. Turn wheels fully to left.
5. Pull out cotter pin, and remove nut.
6. Remove tie rod from knuckle arm with Special Service Tools (SST) (OK130 283 021 or equivalent).
NOTICE: Replace nut temporarily so screw thread does not become damaged.
7. Mark alignment of tie rod, jam nut and tie rod end as shown.
8. Loosen tie rod jam nut and remove tie rod.
9. Secure tie-rod end in a vise.
10. Place a chisel against dust boot, holding it at angle shown.
11. Carefully remove tie rod boot, working around boot.
NOTICE: Do not scar area where the tie rod seals to the dust boot.
12. Loosen steering rack boot retaining clip and boot retaining wire.
13. Remove tie rod jam nut.
14. Remove steering rack boot.
15. Remove boot clip and discard boot retaining wire.
