Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove one nut and one bolt attaching fresh air duct.
2. Remove five bolts attaching heat shield and remove.
3. Remove five nuts that attach warm-up TWC converter to exhaust manifold.
4. Raise vehicle.
5. Remove seven bolts attaching splash shield.
6. Remove three nuts that attach warm-up TWC converter to front exhaust pipe.
7. Remove warm-up TWC converter.
8. Remove two gaskets.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean mating surfaces as required.
2. Install new gaskets.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Position warm-up TWC converter for installation.
5. Tighten three nuts that attach warm-up TWC converter to front exhaust pipe.
Tightening torque: 27.4 - 38.3 ft. lbs. (37.2 - 51.9 Nm, 3.8 - 5.3 kg-m)
6. Install splash shield.
Tighten torque: 10 - 12 ft. lbs. (13.5 - 16Nm,1.4 - 1.6 kg-m)
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Tighten five nuts that attach warm-up TWC converter to exhaust manifold.
Tightening torque: 27.4 - 38.3 ft. lbs. (37.2 - 51.9 Nm, 3.8 - 5.3 kg-m)
9. Install heat shield.
Tightening torque: 69 - 95 inch lbs.(7.8 - 10.8 Nm, 80 - 110 kg-cm)
10. Tighten one bolt and one nut at fresh air duct.
