SUBJECT:
Turn Signal Circuit

This bulletin provides information related to the turn signal circuit in 1998 and later Sephia models. It is important to understand the circuit when diagnosing a turn signal malfunction. Without understanding the circuit, the Combination Switch can be erroneously condemned and replaced when the actual source of the turn signal malfunction is the Hazard Switch.

Power is supplied to the Flasher Module from pin # 8 of the Hazard Switch. With the Hazard Switch in the off position, pin # 8 is electrically connected to pin # 5 of the Hazard Switch which is directly connected to the 10 amp turn signal fuse. Therefore, if there is an open in the Hazard Switch, power will not get to the Combination Switch.

Use the following procedure when diagnosing an inoperative turn signal.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE:

1. Check to make certain that the turn signal fuse is good.

2. Check for power (12 volts) at connector C234 pin # 8 at the Hazard Switch.

3. If there is no power at C234 pin # 8 when the Hazard Switch is in the off position, replace the Hazard Switch.
