Audible Warning Device: Description and Operation
Electronic Time Control ModuleThe Electronic Time Control Module operates the chime. For the chime, the fasten belt indicator, the rear defroster and the power door locks. Battery voltage is supplied at all times to the module from the ROOM and TAIL RH fuses. Battery voltage is also supplied to the module from the METER fuse any time the ignition switch is in ON or START. The control module is grounded at G203. For details and usage of the various inputs and outputs, see the systems indicated in the schematic.
"Lights On" Warning Chime
Battery voltage is applied through the TAIL LH fuses to the "Lights ON" input of the electronic time control module when the light switch is in PARK or HEAD. When any door is opened, its door switch applies ground to the "Door open input. If the "Door open input is grounded, and battery voltage is present at the "Lights ON" input, then a warning chime will sound to alert an exiting driver that the lights were left ON.
"Key in ignition" Warning Chime
When the key is inserted into the ignition switch, the key-in ignition switch closes, applying battery voltage to terminal 8 of the electronic time control module. If battery voltage is present at terminal 8 and simultaneously a door is opened, the warning chime will sound alerting the driver that key is left on the ignition.
"Fasten belts" Warning Chime
The safety belt switch is open if the safety belt is buckled. If the electronic time control module is grounded at terminal C220/3 (safety belt input), the module will sound the warning chime six (6) times and illuminate the fasten belts indicator. The fasten belts indicator will remain illuminated until the belt switch is open, indicating that the seat belts is attached properly.
