Center Mounted Brake Lamp: Description and Operation

High-Mounted Brake Light Assembly

Exterior Lights:





Exterior lights consist of six lighting systems: headlights, turn-signal lights, parking lights, hazard lights, brake lights, and license plate lights (rear only). Six systems include left and right headlight and combination light assemblies, left and right rear combination light assemblies, a rear high-mounted brake light assembly, and two license plate light assemblies (for rear license only). All lights are powered by 12-volt electrical system and are controlled/operated by driver.

High-mounted brake light assembly is mounted on package tray assembly. Lens is red and is visible through rear window. Assembly has one bulb. Two screws attach the cover. Cover is removed for access to bulb. Light is turned on/off by a brake light switch mounted near brake and actuated by movement of brake pedal.
