Engine Controls - Intermittent Stalling

TITLE: Intermittent Stalling

APPLIES TO: 98-99 Sephia

SERVICE TIP:

CONDITION

Intermittent stalling on some 1998-1999 Sephia's, no Check Engine light illumination and no DTCs stored in the ECM memory.

CAUSE

Insufficient fuel pump ground connection at G300 causes fuel pump to shut-off intermittently.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

1. Remove the driver's seat from the vehicle.






2. Carefully remove the lower "B" pillar plastic trim and both front and rear scuff plates.
3. Remove the plastic cover over the remote fuel/trunk levers.






4. Lift up the driver's side carpet at the crossmember and locate G300.
5. Remove the 6mm bolt securing the junction connector to the body.






6. Open the plastic connector body and remove the metal junction connector.
7. Using a suitable tool, remove female connectors from the connector body.
8. Using a high wattage soldering gun, solder each of the female connectors onto the metal junction connector and reinstall into the vehicle.
9. Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order of removal.
