Some 1998 vehicles equipped with ABS have exhibited a loud rattling noise coming from under the hood during acceleration.

CAUSE

This condition is caused by the resonance chamber air intake hose coming in contact with the brake master cylinder. The reason this only occurs on vehicles equipped with ABS is because the brake master cylinder on ABS equipped vehicles extends out further than on vehicles without ABS.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

1. Loosen the air intake hose clamps.
2. Rotate the hose to provide enough clearance between the resonance chamber and the master cylinder.
