Replacement

1. Remove the battery and the battery carrier.
2. Remove the air intake hose.
3. Remove the A/T control cable bracket from the transaxle connector bracket.
4. Remove the A/T control cable from the throttle lever (throttle body).

NOTICE: Loosen bolt 1 before bolt 2.






5. Loosen bolt 1 and bolt 2 shown.
6. Remove the A/T control cable from the bracket.





7. Suspend the engine with the SST (or equivalent), and remove the engine mounting member, refer to ENGINE.
8. Raise the vehicle and support it with safety stands.
9. Drain the ATF into a suitable container.





10. Remove the oil pan and gasket.
11. Remove the control valve body, refer to CONTROL VALVE BODY.
12. Remove the A/T control cable from the throttle cam.
13. Remove the mounting bolt and A/T control cable from the transaxle.
14. Remove the O-ring from the transaxle case.





15. Install the new A/T control cable and a new O-ring into the transaxle.
16. Install the A/T control cable to the throttle cam.
17. Connect the A/T control cable to the throttle lever (throttle body).

NOTICE: Do not reuse bolt 1.





18. Tighten the bolts.

Tightening torque: 69.6 - 94.8 inch lbs. (7.9 - 10.7 Nm)





19. Install the control valve body, refer to CONTROL VALVE BODY.

Tightening torque: 69.6 - 94.8 inch lbs. (7.9 - 10.7 Nm)

NOTICE: Apply a thin coat of sealant to both sides of the gasket.

20. Install a new gasket and install the oil pan.

Tightening torque: 69.6 - 94.8 inch lbs. (7.9 - 10.7 Nm)





21. Install the engine mounting member and remove the SST (or equivalent), refer to ENGINE.
22. After installation add ATF, and with the engine idling, check the ATF level and check for leaks, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID.
23. Adjust the A/T control cable using the line pressure adjustment.
