Installation
1. Set transaxle on transaxle jack or suitable floor jack and place under vehicle.
2. Raise transaxle and align with engine.
3. Connect transaxle to engine using four mounting bolts to pull together: two on top and two on side.
Tightening torque: 48 - 65 ft. lbs. (65 - 88 Nm)
4. Raise engine and transaxle together and install engine mounting member in place using the two nuts and two bolts: two in front and two in back.
Tightening torque: 48 - 65 ft. lbs. (65 - 88 Nm)
5. Install two nuts on #1 engine mount.
Tightening torque: 28 - 38 ft. lbs. (38 - 52 Nm)
6. Install two nuts on #2 engine mount.
Tightening torque: 28 - 38 ft. lbs. (38 - 52 Nm)
7. Remove floor jack from transaxle.
8. Connect the two oil cooler hoses.
9. Remove SST K94A-4208 AT and install new clips on driveshafts.
10. Push the driveshaft and joint shaft into the transaxle with the opening of the clips pointing upward.
11. Install the joint shaft support bolts.
Tightening torque: 32 - 46 ft. lbs. (43 - 52 Nm)
12. Install right and left lower ball joints into the spindles. Install the bolt.
Tightening torque: 32 - 43 ft. lbs. (43 - 56 Nm)
13. Install the right and left stabilizer end links, starting with a bolt washer and one bushing. Insert through control arm and follow with bushing, washer, sleeve, washer, bushing, stabilizer, bushing, washer, and nut.
Tightening torque: 14 - 18 ft. lbs. (19 - 24 Nm)
14. Lock with the second nut.
15. Install both right and left tie rod ends into the steering knuckles. Install nuts.
Tightening torque: 32 - 41 ft. lbs. (43 - 56 Nm)
16. Insert cotter pin and bend over.
17. Install five oil pan-to-transaxle mounting bolts.
Tightening torque: 28 - 38 ft. lbs. (38 - 52 Nm)
18. Install front exhaust pipe and catalytic converter and tighten the four nuts (two front, two back).
Tightening torque: 28 - 38 ft. lbs. (38 - 52 Nm)
19. Install starter and tighten the three bolts.
Tightening torque: 28 - 38 ft. lbs. (38 - 52 Nm)
20. Install intake support bracket and tighten the four bolts (two upper and two lower).
Tightening torque: 20 - 30 ft. lbs. (27 - 41 Nm)
21. Install the drivers side wheel well splash shield with the seven mounting bolts and gravel shield with the nine mounting bolts.
22. Install both front wheels and install lug nuts.
23. Install the four drive plate-to-torque connector mounting bolts.
Tightening torque: 26 - 32 ft. lbs. (35 - 43 Nm)
24. Install access cover.
25. Remove vehicle supports and lower vehicle only enough to put a light weight on the front wheels. Tighten lug nuts.
Tightening torque: 66 - 86 ft. lbs. (90 - 117 Nm)
26. Fully lower the vehicle.
27. Install solenoid valve connector.
Description:
28. Install transaxle range switch connector.
29. Install selector cable on transaxle linkage following with washer and lock pin.
30. Install u-clip on selector cable to transaxle.
31. Connect vehicle speed sensor connector on right side of transaxle.
32. Connect ground strap with one bolt to top of transaxle.
33. Connect input/turbine speed sensor connector.
34. Install EGR tube; support bracket and bolt.
35. Install transaxle A/T control cable to throttle body and install support bracket and bolt on rear of engine.
36. Install #4 engine mount and tighten three transaxle bolts.
Tightening torque: 50 - 68 ft. lbs. (68 - 92 Nm)
37. Tighten four body bolts.
Tightening torque: 2 - 44 ft. lbs. (44 - 60 Nm)
38. Install battery tray and four mounting bolts.
Tightening torque: 70 - 95 inch lbs. (7.9 - 10.7 Nm)
39. Install battery and hold down. Install two bolts and two nuts and tighten.
Tightening torque: 27 - 52 inch lbs. (3.0 - 5.8 Nm)
40. Install air cleaner assembly with three mounting bolts. Connect MAF sensor connector and install intake hose with two clamps and tighten.
41. Fill transaxle with ATF.
42. Reconnect battery.
43. Check transaxle for operation and fluid level.
44. Adjust A/T control cable, refer to A/T CONTROL CABLE.
