Removal and Installation


Driver Air Bag Module:





Driver Air Bag Module Removal

1. Remove the four air bag module retaining bolts from the backside of the steering wheel.

2. Pull the air bag module away from the steering wheel.

3. Disconnect the air bag module connector from he clockspring assembly and remove the driver air bag module from the vehicle.

4. If necessary, dispose of air bag module. Refer to Air Bag Deployment and Disposal.





Driver Air Bag Module Installation

1. Ensure that the front wheels are pointing straight ahead.

2. Holding the surface of the air bag away from you, couple the blue air bag, SRS connectors, then couple the orange horn connectors.

* NOTICE

The orange and blue connectors are keyed to fit only one (1) way. When properly assembled, they will slip into place (using slight pressure) with an audible "click". Do not force. If undue force is required, the connectors are not aligned properly.

3. Set the module into the steering wheel, taking care not to pinch the wiring harness.

4. Install the four retaining bolts.

Torque: 10-12 ft-lbs (15-18 N-m)

5. Verify that no Trouble Codes are present. Refer to Diagnosis (Multi-point).
