Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Inspection





1. Remove the distributor.
2. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
3. Connect the distributor's seven-pin connector.

WARNING:
- Turning the ignition switch ON with the fuel injector connector still connected will actuate the fuel injector.
- Turning the ignition switch ON with the distributor three-pin connector still connected will generate sparks, which can cause electrical shock. Disconnect this connector and prevent it from grounding to the vehicle body.

4. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Measure the voltage at PCM terminals C249-16 and C249-4.





6. Rotate the distributor drive by hand and check the output signal.





7. If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness and connector between the distributor and the PCM terminals.
