Replacement






NOTICE: Drain the transaxle oil before removal.

REMOVAL

NOTE: Remove in the order shown.

Tie-rod

NOTICE: Do not damage the dust boot.





1. Remove the nut and disconnect the tie-rod end with the SST (or equivalent).

Driveshaft

NOTICE: Do not damage the dust cover or oil seal.





1. Remove the driveshaft from the transaxle with a pry bar. There will be an initial resistance until the circular clip is collapsed and pulled into the side gear.





2. Remove the driveshaft from the front hub after removing the locknut.

NOTICE: If the driveshaft is frozen in the front wheel hub, spray a penetrating solvent into the splined area and then reinstall the locknut so that it is flush with the end of the shaft. Tap the nut with a copper hammer to remove the driveshaft.

Driveshaft and Joint Shaft Assembly





1. Separate the right-side driveshaft form the joint shaft by hammering on a brass or copper pry bar inserted between them.

1. Pull the joint shaft straight out.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Install in the reverse order of removal.

Driveshaft

NOTICE: Do not damage the dust cover or oil seal.





1. Install the driveshaft with the clips' gap facing upward.

Joint Shaft





1. Install a new clip so that the opening is facing upwards.
2. Measure the outer diameter of the clip after installing, and replace the clip if it exceeds the specification.

Outer diameter: 1.181 inch (30 mm)





3. Install the joint shaft support and tighten the bolts in the order shown.

Tightening torque: 32-45 ft. lbs. (43-61 Nm)

Driveshaft and Axle Assembly





1. Push the driveshaft onto the joint shaft.
2. After installation, pull the front hub outward to verify that the driveshaft is securely held by the clip.

Tie-rod End

NOTICE: Do not damage the dust boot.





1. Install the nut and secure it with a new cotter pin.

Tightening torque: 21-32 ft. lbs. (29-44 Nm)

Stabilizer





1. Install the stabilizer bar and its hardware. Replace the hardware in the same order that it was removed. Tighten the nut until the dimension shown is achieved.

Dimension A: 0.27-0.43 inch (7-11 mm)

Locknut





1. Install a new locknut and stake it, as shown.

Tightening torque: 155-200 ft. lbs. (209-279 Nm)
