Seat Belt Systems: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove components in the order shown in the figure.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION
Do not disassemble the buckle or retractor assemblies.

Inspection





1. Check that the belts pull out of the retractors smoothly, and that it does not bind when worn.





2. Check the belt webbing for scars, tears or excessive wear, and for damage to its tongues or anchors.

Inspection of driver's seat belt switch





Insert seat belt tongue into buckle and use an ohmmeter to check the switch continuity.
