Clearing Trouble Codes

Multi-Point Method





NOTICE
Refer to Diagnosis for Air Bag Diagnostic Trouble Code retreval.

1. Reconnect the battery.
2. Turn ignition switch to ON.
3. Within the next seven seconds, pin 6 (ADU) of the data link connector (DLC) must be touched to ground four times within five seconds.

NOTICE
If the grounding cycle is too fast, the error codes may not be erased.

4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK.
5. Confirm erasure of codes by:
a. Jumping pins 6 (ADU) and 12 (C2) of the DLC.
b. Turning ignition switch to ON. A rapid continuous flashing indicates a pass condition.
6. Turn ignition switch to LOCK and remove jumper wire.
7. Turn ignition switch to ON and verify that the air bag indicator illuminates for 4-8 seconds and then goes off.

Single-Point Method

NOTICE
Disconnecting the Battery will not erase Air Bag Diagnostic Trouble Codes. This procedure can only be performed using the Kia Data Pro Scan Tool equipped with the appropriate software.
