Steering Angle

PREINSPECTION
1. Set the tire inflation pressures to the recommended pressure, if necessary.
2. Inspect the front wheel bearing play; replace the bearing if necessary.
3. Inspect the wheel and tire runout.
4. Inspect the ball joints and steering linkage for excessive play.
5. The vehicle must be on a level surface and have no luggage or passenger load.
6. Shake the vehicle to check operation of the shock absorbers.
7. The difference in height, between the left and right sides of the vehicle, from the center of the wheel up to the edge of the fender must not exceed 0.39 inch (10 mm).
8. Check that the fuel tank is full, radiator coolant and engine oil are at specified levels, and spare tire, jack and tools are in designated positions.

ADJUSTMENT
Maximum turning angle to the left and to the right
1. Place both of the front wheels on a turning radius gauge.
2. Turn the wheels fully to the left and note the angles for the left (inner) and right (outer) wheels.





3. Loosen both the left and right tie-rod jam nuts, then turn both of the tie-rods to achieve the specified angles. Tighten the jam nuts.
4. Repeat for a full right turn; right is now inner and left is now outer.
5. Tighten the tie-rod jam nuts.
Tightening torque: 25-29 ft. lbs. (34-39 Nm)





6. Inspect and adjust the toe after adjusting the steering angle.
