Backing Plate: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the rear braking assembly. Service and Repair
2. Remove the brake line.
3. Remove the hub assembly. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
4. Remove the rear parking brake cable retaining clip and pull the cable out of the backing plate.
5. Remove the four backing plate mounting bolts.
6. Inspect backing plate for deformation, cracking and excessive corrosion. Replace if necessary.

INSTALLATION
1. Mount the backing plate onto the spindle and fasten with four bolts.
- Tightening torque: 48-60 Nm (36-45 ft. lbs.).
2. Insert the rear parking brake cable end into the backing plate and fasten with a retaining clip.
3. Install the hub assembly. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
4. Install the rear brake assembly. Service and Repair
