Hood: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation
Remove in the numbered order shown in the figure.
Installation is the reverse order of removal.

NOTICE
Remove the radiator grille to remove the hood latch.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect windshield washer hose.





2. Remove the hood hinge nuts, and then remove the hood.
3. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
When installing the hood, tighten the nuts temporarily and then check the fit before fully tightening.

Cowl grille
1. Remove the windshield wiper arms.





2. Remove the seven cowl grille screws and their covers, and then remove the cowl grille.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

ADJUSTMENT

Hood alignment





Adjust the hood from side to side, and from front to back, by loosening the hood hinge bolts and carefully repositioning the hood.

Tightening torque:
14-19 ft-lb (19-25 N.m)

Hood latch





1. Loosen the screws and remove the cover on top of the grille. Loosen the hood latch mounting bolts and nut and then align the latch with the striker on the hood.

Tightening torque:
Bolts: 69-95 in-lb (7.8-11Nem)
Nut: 14-19 ft-lb (19-25 N.m)
