Front Door: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove components in the numbered order shown in the figure.
3. Install in the reverse order for removal.

NOTICE
Remove the door the panel and moisture barrier before removing the door check.



REMOVAL


Front door glass and regulator
1. Lower door glass to full down position.





2. Remove the inner handle, the arm rest, the window lift handle, and the door trim panel (arrows).

NOTICE
For vehicles with power windows and power door locks, disconnect the harness connector





3. Peel away the moisture barrier.

NOTICE
Peel the moisture barrier away carefully so that it can be reused.





4. Remove the speaker from the door (arrow).





5. Remove the door glass channel installation bolts, and then remove the door glass channel.





6. Remove the door glass mounting bolts.





7. Remove the door glass upward.

CAUTION
Remove the glass carefully to avoid breakage.

8. Remove the glass channel and weatherstrip.

NOTICE
Glass run channel and channel support are a Single unit.





9. Remove the regulator installation bolts (3 each), and then remove the regulator through the access hole.

Front Door





1. Remove the inner handle, door trim panel and regulator etc.
2. Remove the regulator and remove the lock actuating rod and the outer handle installation nuts.
3. Remove the outer handle.





4. Remove the lock cylinder retainer, and then remove the door key subset.





5. Remove the screws, and then remove the door lock assembly.





6. Remove the door check pin.
7. Remove the door hinge installation bolts, and remove the door.

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following.

NOTICE





- Check the glass channel and channel support for damage before installing the door glass.





- After installing the window regulator, adjust so it that the door glass moves up down freely and smoothly

ADJUSTMENT

Door strike





1. Check that the door can be closed easily and that there is no play. If there is a problem, loosen the striker installation screws and adjust the door by moving the door lock strike vertically or horizontally.
2. Check the rear alignment between the door and the body. If there is a problem, adjust the door by moving the door strike horizontally.





Tightening torque:
13-20 if-lb (1-27 N.m)

Door hinges





1. Open the door, it there is play in the hinges, tighten the door hinge installation bolts (arrows).
2. To adjust the door to body alignment, loosen the door hinge installation bolts and make the adjustment.

Tightening torque:
13-21 ft-lb (17.64-29.4 N.m)
