Front Bumper: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove components in the numbered order shown in the figure.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

REMOVAL
1. Open the hood and remove the radiator grille.





2. Disconnect the harness connectors from both front combination lights.
3. Remove the combination lights.
4. Disconnect left and right headlight electrical connectors.





5. Remove headlight installation bolts and remove headlights.





6. Remove the bumper installation screws (upper) and bolts (lower) in front wheel wells.





7. Remove fasteners that connect bumper face assembly to bumper brackets on underside of bumper (arrows).





8. Remove left and right bumper stay installation bolts (arrows).

ADJUSTMENT





1. After the bumper assembly is removed from the body, remove the fasteners which connect the bumper face assembly and bumper reinforcement (arrows).





2. Remove the fasteners which connect the bumper face to the bumper reinforcement (arrows).





3. Check the condition of the energy absorbent foam before reinstalling the bumper face assembly to the bumper reinforcement.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the bumper stay bolts, then verify that the bumper is correctly positioned on the vehicle. Tighten the bumper stay bolts.

Tightening torque:
12-18 ft-lb (16-24 N.m)
