Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Adjustments

1. Remove the square-headed "L" plug and install SST K94A-4214-AT (or equivalent).
2. Shift into P range and start the engine. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature, and adjust the idle speed if necessary.

Idle speed: 700-800 rpm (with parking brake applied)

NOTICE: Loosen bolt 1 before bolt 2.

3. Loosen bolt 1 and bolt 2.
4. Verify that the throttle is fully closed.
5. Tighten bolt 1.

Tightening torque: 61.2 - 86.4 inch lbs. (6.9 - 9.8 Nm)

6. Pull the throttle cable in the "B" direction of the arrow until the line pressure exceeds the specified pressure.

NOTICE: If the line pressure will not decrease to the adjustment pressure, tighten bolt 2 with the line pressure at the closest point to adjustment pressure. It must not be above the maximum specified pressure.

7. Push the cable in the "A" direction of the arrow until the line pressure decreases to the adjustment pressure.

Adjustment pressure:
B6 DOHC: 74 psi (510 kPa)
BP DOHC: 71 psi (490 kPa)

Specified line pressure: 61-81 psi (422-559 kPa)

8. Tighten bolt 2.

Tightening torque: 61.2 - 86.4 inch lbs. (6.9 - 0.8 Nm)

9. Turn off the engine and verify that the A/T control cable moves smoothly.
10. Restart the engine and accelerate slightly, then run it at idle.
11. Verify that the line pressure is within specification.

Specified line pressure: 61-81 psi (422-559 kPa)

12. If not correct, repeat from Step 3.

13. Remove the SST (oil pressure gauge set) and install a new square-headed plug.

Tightening torque: 44.4 - 86.4 inch lbs. (5.0 - 9.80 Nm)
