Control Valve Body Overhaul

NOTICE:
- Be especially careful when handling the control valve because it consists of the most precise and delicate parts of the transaxle.
- Neatly arrange the removed parts to avoid confusing the similar parts.
- Clean the removed parts with cleaning solvent, and dry them with compressed air. Clean out all holes and passages with compressed air.
DISASSEMBLY
NOTE: Disassemble in the order shown.
1. Remove the oil pipe assembly.
2. Remove the O-rings from the oil pipe assembly.
3. Remove the shift solenoid A and oil strainer.
4. Remove the torque converter clutch solenoid valve and oil strainer.
5. Remove the shift solenoids B and C and oil strainers.
6. Remove the upper control valve body.
7. Remove the screws.
8. Remove gasket B. the upper separator plate, the oil filter and gasket A.
9. Remove the throttle relief ball and throttle relief spring from the upper valve body (if equipped).
10. Remove the main control valve body.
11. Remove the screws.
12. Remove gasket D, the main separator plate, and gasket C.
13. Remove the rubber balls from the main control valve body.
14. Remove the oil strainer from the premain control valve body.
15. Remove the premain control valve body.
16. Remove gasket E, the lower separator plate, the oil filter, and gasket F.
17. Remove the oil filter from the lower control valve body.
INSPECTION
NOTE: Inspect all parts and repair or replace as necessary.
1. Measure the throttle relief spring free length (if equipped).
Outer Diameter - 0.260 inch (6.6 mm)
Free Length - 0.850 inch (21.6 mm)
No. Of Coils - 11.5
Wire Diameter - 0.031 inch (0.8 mm)
2. If not within specification, replace the spring.
