Fuel Cut Control System
DESCRIPTION
This system is used to improve the fuel economy to prevent engine bucking during deceleration, and to protect the engine from overspeeding.
SYSTEM OPERATION
1. Connect a tachometer to the data link connector (DLC) IG-terminal.
2. Warm-up the engine to normal operating temperature and run it at idle.
WARNING: Confirm that transmission is in Neutral (M/T) or P range (A.T).
1. Check voltages at PCM connector C249/11, C249/24, C249/12 and C249/25. Verify that the terminal voltages for the injectors are correct, referring to PCM Pinout Values.
Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters
2. Increase the engine speed to 4,000 rpm and then suddenly release the throttle.
3. Verify voltage at PCM connectors C249/11, C249/24, C249/12 and C249/25. All terminals should read 1 2V while engine speed is above approximately 1,900 rpm on deceleration.
4. Increase the engine speed and verify that the maximum rpm does not exceed approx. 7,300 rpm.
