ABS Light: Description and Operation
The ABS warning light is vital for alerting the driver/technician of ABS problems or inoperation. This is also necessary for retrieving diagnostic trouble codes from the ABS Control Unit memory. The ABS warning light normally illuminates for a period of three seconds when the ignition switch is first turned to ON while the ABS Control Unit completes a series of self-diagnostics. The unit then turns off. This three-second period serves as a bulbs. check and if it does not occur, the ABS warning light circuit must be checked.
