Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes
FLASH CODES
Diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved by putting the ABS Control Unit in a retrieval mode, at which time it will intermittently illuminate the instrument cluster's ABS warning light. To represent a digit, the ABS warning light will flash a number of times that is equal to the digit, with each flash having a duration of .4 seconds. Each group of flashes, representing one digit, is separated by a 1.2 second pause. After all four digits are displayed, the ABS warning light will flash for 1.2 seconds and then the same code will be repeated. If there are no diagnostic trouble codes stored, the ABS warning light will alternate between 1.2 seconds ON and 1.seconds OFF.
Grounding Data Link Connector (DLC)
1. With the ignition OFF, locate the data link connector (C125) on the rear firewall and connect a jumper wire between the ABS output pin and the G2 pin. Do not damage the pins.
2. Turn the ignition to ON and then remove the jumper.
3. Study the flashing pattern of the ABS warning light and record the code.
4. Determine if there are additional diagnostic trouble codes stored by reconnecting jumper for at least three seconds and then removing it.
5. Study the flashing pattern and record the new diagnostic trouble code. Repeat step 4 until all diagnostic trouble codes have been recorded.
6. If there are no more diagnostic trouble codes to be retrieved, the ABS warning light will flash 1.2 seconds ON and 1.2 seconds OFF.
