Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove in the numbered order shown in the figure.
3. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

REMOVAL





1. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers, the driver's side air bag module, and the steering wheel. Remove the instrument cluster bezel.

2. Remove the screws from the lower portion of the combination switch.
3. Remove the combination switch.





4. Remove the instrument cluster installation screws.
5. Pull instrument cluster forward to gain access to electrical connectors on rear side Remove instrument cluster.





6. Remove the two retaining bolts on underside of steering column bracket and drop steering column.





7. Remove center panel bezel. Disconnect and remove heater and A/C control assembly.





8. Disconnect and remove radio and cigarette lighter. Remove center instrument panel.

9. Remove defroster grille and then remove screw in center of I/P

10. Remove lower I/P panel screws Remove glove box.





11. Removal of instrument panel
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors between center instrument panel and dash harness.
(b) Remove the instrument panel installation screws.
(c) Remove the instrument panel.

INSTALLATION





1. Set the instrument panel in position, and reconnect the electrical connectors.
2. Install the screws shown in the figure, and tighten.

Tightening torque:
3.1-4.7 ft-lb (4.2-6.4 Nm)
6.5-9.4 ft-lb (8.8-12.8 Nm)
6.5-9.4 ft-lb (8.8-12.8 Nm)


3. Install remaining components in the reverse order of removal.
