Air Bag Module Deployment

1. Disarm SRS as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
2. Remove module from vehicle.
3. Locate module facing upward in a safe, open space with no strong winds or breezes.
4. Connect deployment tool No. K95U-6000-BDY, or equivalent, to module connector.
5. Move tool at least 20 ft. away from module.
6. Connect tool to a fully charged 12 volt battery (red lead to positive, black to negative), and ensure green lamp is lit.
7. Clear all persons, animals and objects from area within 20 feet of module.

8. Press and hold READY button, Fig. 3. Ensure yellow READY lamp is flashing.
9. Press and hold DEPLOY button.
10. If module does not deploy, ensure the red DEPLOY lamp is lit, and keep area clear for at least 30 minutes.
11. If module deploys, release both READY and DEPLOY buttons, and ensure the READY and DEPLOY lamps have gone off.
12. Do not touch module for 30 minutes after deployment. Wait until it has cooled.
13. Place deployed air bag in a sealed plastic bag and discard with automotive scrap.
14. If module does not deploy, contact KIA for disposal instructions.
