Repair Procedure

1. Ensure that the Ignition Switch is in the "LOCK" position.

CAUTION
Failure to turn the Ignition Switch to the "LOCK" position may result in damage to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

2. Unplug connector C-157 (6 pin black connector).

3. Using a small screwdriver, carefully remove the yellow terminal retainer from the male connector.

4. Locate the Yellow/Green (YEL/GRN) and Yellow/Blue (YEL/BLU) wires in the male end of the connector.

5. Using a small screwdriver or a connector terminal release tool, raise the terminal lock tabs for the male terminal ends connected to the YEL/GRN and YEL/BLU wires then pull the wires out of the back of the connector.

* NOTICE
The two (2) male terminal ends in connector C-157 (6 pin black connector) are gold in color.

6. Reverse the positions of the YEL/GRN and YEL/BLU wires then reinstall them into the connector and ensure that the wire terminals are locked into the connector.

* NOTICE
When the wires are installed in the correct positions in the male end of connector C-157, the YEL/GRN wire will be connected to the YEL/BLU wire and the YEL/BLU wire will be connected to the YEL/GRN wire in the female end of connector C-157.

7. Reinstall the yellow terminal retainer into the connector then reconnect the connector.

8. Mark the top of the female side of connector C-157 (6-BLK) with a dot of white touch-up paint.

9. Connect the Kia Data Pro Scan Tool to the OBD-II Data Link Connector and check for stored misfire Diagnostic Trouble Codes (P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, or P0304). If one or more of these misfire DTC's are present, record the Freeze Frame Data information.

* NOTICE
If any other Diagnostic Trouble Codes are retrieved using the Kia Data Pro Scan Tool (except P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, or P0304), follow normal diagnostic procedures to correct the condition.

10. Using the Kia Data Pro Scan Tool, clear any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's).

11. Road test the vehicle and confirm that the Check Engine Light (MIL) does not illuminate.
