Fig. 5 Strut Assembly Service:

1. Disassemble strut in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 5. Secure mounting block in a vise. Use protective plates in jaws of vise.
2. Loosen piston rod nut a few turns. Do not remove.
3. Compress coil spring with suitable compression tool, then remove piston rod nut.
4. Remove coil spring.
5. Reverse procedure to assemble, noting the following:
a. Secure shock absorber in a vise. Use protective plates in jaws of vise.
b. Apply rubber lubricant to bound stopper and upper spring seat contact surfaces.
c. Install mounting block and nut, then carefully loosen and remove spring compression tool.
d. Ensure coil spring is correctly seated in upper and lower seats.
e. Tighten to specifications.
