Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

NOTE: On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove horn cap from center of steering wheel by loosening bolts from rear.
3. Remove steering wheel locknut.
4. Remove steering wheel with a suitable puller. Do not try to remove steering wheel by hitting shaft with a hammer.
5. Reverse procedure to install, torque steering wheel locknut to 29--36 ft. lbs.
6. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
