TITLE: HLA Noise

SERVICE TIP:
CONDITION
Some vehicles have experienced excessive HLA noise (clatter) at engine start-up.
CAUSE
Air becomes trapped inside the HLA (aeration) and causes excessive clatter. Prior to replacing any HLAs, perform the following de-aeration procedure.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Warm-up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Run the engine at the specified RPM's for the specified length of time.
Sephia: 4000 RPM for 5 minutes
Sportage: 3000 RPM for 10 minutes
3. Verify that HLA noise is no longer present.
