Thermostat: Service and Repair

NOTE: On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain engine coolant.
2. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor connector.
3. Remove radiator hose from thermostat housing, then remove mounting bolts and housing.

4. Remove gasket and thermostat, Fig. 58.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Use a new gasket and tighten to specifications.
6. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
