Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Connector:






INSPECTION
1. Disconnect the three-pin crankshaft position sensor connector.
2. Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 with an ohmmeter.

RESISTANCE: 500 - 600 ohms. (at 68°F [20°C])

3. If not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.
4. Connect the crankshaft position sensor connector.


Air Gap:






AIR GAP
1. Measure the air gap between the crankshaft pulley and the crankshaft position sensor by using a feeler gauge.

SPECIFICATION: 0.020 - 0.059 in (0.5 - 1.5 mm)

2. If not as specified, replace the crankshaft pulley or the crankshaft position sensor.
