INSPECTION
The Bypass Air Control (BAC) valve consists of the Air Valve and Idle Air Control valve.
AIR VALVE
1. Remove the BAC valve as follows:
a. Remove the intake hose from the throttle body.
b. Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold.
c. Remove the BAC valve from the throttle body.
2. Circulate water in the BAC valve coolant passage to cool the air valve.
3. Circulate hot water in the BAC valve coolant passage and verify that the air valve operates.
4. If not, replace the BAC valve.
Tighten
Bolts to 24 - 36 in lb. (2.9 - 4.0 Nm)
Assembly:
IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE
1. Verify that the ignition switch is OFF.
2. Disconnect the idle air control valve connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the idle air control valve by using an ohmmeter.
SPECIFICATION: 10.7 - 12.3 ohms [68°F (20°C)]
4. If not as specified, replace the BAC valve.
