The cruise control system uses mechanical and electrical devices to maintain the vehicle speed at a driver selected setting between approximately 25-90 mph (40-145 kph).

The cruise control module receives signals from the cruise control main switch, the brake pedal switch, the cruise control switch, transmission range switch (A/T), clutch pedal position switch (M/T), neutral position switch (M/T), and the vehicle speed sensor. The cruise control module sends signals to the cruise control actuator and the transmission control module.

With cruise engaged, the cruise control module sends a signal to the transmission control module that prevents the transmission from continuously downshifting and upshifting to maintain the set vehicle speed when going up a long grade or hill.
