Front Doors





1. With the ignition switch in the "ON" position, lower the door glass completely then turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position.





2. Remove the rear view mirror inner cover.

NOTE:
The cover is installed using a clip. From the top, carefully pull on the cover to remove it.





3. Remove the inner door release handle screw, the hand cup retaining screw and the two (2) door trim panel screws.





4. Using a suitable trim panel tool (similar to Snap-On tool number A177A) carefully release the door trim panel clips along the bottom of the trim panel.





5. When all door trim panel clips are released from the door, disconnect all electrical wiring connectors (power window switch, light, etc.) then push the panel upward and out of the door.

NOTE:
The door release handle will fit through the cut-out in the door trim panel.

6. Remove the door release handle from the lock rod.





7. Remove the door panel bracket.





8. Carefully peel the inner plastic sheet off of the inner door panel.

CAUTION:
Do not damage the inner plastic sheet because it must be re-used.

NOTE:
Do not remove the front door speakers.





9. Reconnect the power window switch (from the door panel) to the window regulator then turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and raise the window about four (4) inches. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position then disconnect the power window switch connector and set the door trim panel aside.

NOTE:
If the power window regulator is inoperative, raise the window by hand approximately four (4) inches and continue on to step 10.





10. Remove the two (2) door glass mounting bolts from the window regulator.

CAUTION:
Do not allow the glass to fall down into the door.

11. Carefully pull the glass up and out of the door.

CAUTION:
Handle the glass carefully to avoid damage.





12. Disconnect the connector from the window regulator motor then remove the three (3) window regulator motor nuts along with the two (2) nuts and one (1) bolt from the window regulator guide.





13. Carefully slide the window regulator assembly out of the door through the large inner door panel service cut-out.





14. Install the new (Type 2) window regulator into the door then reinstall the five (5) attaching nuts and one (1) bolt.

Torque the nuts and bolt to 6-8 ft-lbs.

CAUTION:
Do not over-tighten!





15. Carefully reinstall the glass into the door then reinstall the two (2) glass mounting bolts.

CAUTION:
Hand tighten only! Do not over-tighten!

16. Reinstall the inner plastic sheet and door trim panel in reverse order of removal.

17. Check for proper operation of the window regulator and door glass.
