Starting System: Description and Operation

When the ignition switch is turned to the Start position with the automatic transaxle in Park or Neutral or the starter clutch pedal position switch closed, battery voltage is applied to the starter solenoid coils. The starter solenoid will energize, causing the starter solenoid contacts to close and allow battery voltage to be applied to the starter motor. This battery voltage causes the starter motor to engage and crank the engine.
