Repair Procedures
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for at least three minutes before beginning work.
2. Remove the lower anchor bolt. [Passenger only]
3. Remove the anchor pretensioner cover pad (A). [Driver only]
4. Remove the seat belt after pushing the lock pin with a fiat-tip screwdriver (B). [Driver only]
5. Remove the door scuff trim.
6. Remove the center pillar trim.
7. Remove the upper anchor bolt.
8. Loosen the seat belt pretensioner mounting bolt and remove the seat belt pretensioner.
9. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner connector.
Installation
1. Remove the ignition key from the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable and wait for at least three minutes.
3. Connect the seat belt pretensioner connector.
4. Install the seat belt pretensioner with bolts.
Tightening torque
Bolt B: 39.2 - 53.9 Nm (4.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 28.9 - 39.8 lb.ft)
5. Install the upper anchor bolt.
Tightening torque
: 39.2 - 53.9 Nm (4.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 28.9 - 39.8 lb.ft)
6. Install the center pillar trim.
7. Install the door scuff trim.
8. Install the lower anchor bolt. [Passenger only]
Tightening torque
: 39.2 - 53.9 Nm (4.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 28.9 - 39.8 lb.ft)
9. Insert the seat belt to the anchor pretensioner. [Driver only]
NOTE:
Make sure the lock pin is connected in properly.
10. Attaches anchor pretensioner cover pad (A) on anchor pretensioner. [Driver only]
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the pretensioner cover pad (A).
11. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
12. After installing the seat belt pretensioner, confirm proper system operation:
A. Turn the ignition switch ON; the SRS indicator light should be turned on for about six seconds and then go off.
